MANAGING STRESS
It is the way the body reacts to the many demands made on it. It is our in-built survival mechanism known as the “fight or flight” response to the demands made upon us.
A certain level of stress is essential for us to function as human beings, in order to motivate ourselves to get what we want in our lives. The level of stress needs to be managed to maintain the body’s homeostasis or balance, necessary for our well being. It is the excessive level of stress we create in our lives what causes exhaustion, lack of concentration and ultimately such conditions anxiety disorders. It also raises the blood pressure, increases the heart rate and makes the body secrete more hormones. Eventually, the body becomes unable to cope, resulting in physical or psychological illness.
Excessive stress if continued and ignored can weaken the immunity system. It can also lead to anxiety, insomnia, excessive smoking, alcohol abuse, depression and lack of self worth unless the causes of excessive stress are adequately dealt with. The many “symptoms” of excessive stress are the body’s way of alerting us that we need to pay attention to something. The body’s need for rest and relaxation instead of the continual state of “being ready to fight” the perceived danger to it.
What happens when you manage stress?

When you manage the level of stress, you become relaxed, more alert and have more control over the way you respond to the demands made on you. It enables you to respond to new and exciting opportunities quickly and confidently, and make well considered decisions. Most of all, managing stress helps you to stay healthy and give you energy and vitality you need to enjoy life. There are times when you have made some effort at managing the level of stress in your life and may need some extra help to get the stress under control and to learn how to maintain a healthy balance.
I offer one to one therapy sessions because somepeople may need to resolve underlying emotional issues to be able to manage the stress. One to one sessions are specifically design to address those issues and include self-hypnosis for relaxation, breathing techniques, I also teach Qi Gong exercises as a total support system so that you have the tools to manage stress.
I also run stress management workshops in the UK and abroad.
